Bev's gone all fruity...

clock August 19, 2010 16:05 by author Crafty Ribbons

Bev's gone all fruity with her latest ribbon bag.

We think she had been thinking of summer fruit puddings when she chose the ribbons for this bag. Oooh it does look rather de-lish!

If you want to indulge in your "Five a Day" ribbon bag then just click HERE

Here I am am just dotting along in my own little ribbon world.  I am soooo in love with NEW Swiss Dot organza ribbons, so much so I ordered a few more colours, they should be with us some time next week.  I promise to share as soon as I can!

This card has such a simple clean design and is super cool for a new arrival.  Come on who designed it - Tracey or Paul?

This is another fab creation from the crafting duo.  You guys really know how to let the ribbon speak.

Thanks for sending your makes back to us so quickly, enjoy the rest of the ribbons

Tony has decided that he has become a computer widow and lost his wife to the ether!!  That's not at all true, although I must admit that I do have rather a scrambled brain at the moment.

Hello Wednesday - Poms Away!

clock June 23, 2010 08:05 by author Crafty Ribbons

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all down hill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

I changed my plans for this weeks Hello Wednesday project after receiving several e-mails and lots of comments about my ribbon men - we call them Clown Poms! Some of you may have got a sneak peak of this on Monday, I was setting up the page ready to add to it over the last few days and I published it instead of saving it for later. Silly me.

I know you do wont believe me BUT they are really easy to make.  A circle of fabric, a length of ribbon and thread, a few bits of stuffing and you are away.

Do you remember the old fashioned wooden cloths pegs? Well this is what I use as the Clown Pom's head.  You can paint a face direct onto the peg but it sometimes "bleeds" into the wood, so I always dip mine into varnish and let it dry before I paint.  Like many things I do, I do not paint well, so I practice on some paper first to get the face I like. Cut the peg down to size - Tony does this bit for me (not brilliantly)  but thank you Tony.

Gather all the bits you will need around you - fabric circle about 15cm diameter, a peg head, white pom, stuffing, needle and thread and finally the striking Deckchair Stripe Ribbon which can be found HERE.

Double up your thread and put a knot in the bottom, sew all the way round the outside edge with running stitches, they do not have to be tiny!

Pull the thread to slightly gather the fabric, insert a little toy stuffing to the bottom, you do not want the peg sitting directly onto the fabric.  I added a teaspoon of lavender (can be found HERE) this can be left out, but it makes him smell great!

Insert the peg so it sits on the lavender. (Did you know that lavender will keep it's scent for years).  Every now and again give it a squeeze and it will release it's natural oils.  If you are using lavender from your garden, pop the flower heads into the freezer for 24hours BEFORE you use it.  This will kill any bugs and will stop them from chewing through your crafty creations.)

Insert more toy stuffing around the peg, try and keep the peg in the centre of the fabric, otherwise the clown pom willl be lopsided!

Pull the thread tight around the peg and secure with a few stitches.

This is our Deckchair Stripe Ribbon (HERE) you will need 25cm for the ruffle, fold over the raw edge and secure the thread at one end.

Sew along the edge of the ribbon, with running stitches.

Gather up the ribbon and place over the top of the clown poms head.  Tuck the raw end of the ribbon under the folded end and pull the thread tight.  Space out the ruffles and the secure the thread with a few stitches, the ruffle should be tight around the peg.

It should look like this!

Cut 5cm piece of ribbon for his hat, it needs to fit around your clown pom head.  My finger is the same size as the peg (handy) so I make the hat on my finger!!!  Fold the ribbon over and sew to secure in place.

Sew the two ends together.  Secure with a few stitches.  Next sew small stitches around the top edge of the ribbon.

Gather up the thread and the ribbon will scrunch together to form a little hat.  Secure with a few stitches and sew on a white pom, this will hide your stitching!

Glue the hat onto the top of the peg and you have a cheeky Clown Pom staring back at you.

Hope you enjoy making these little ribbon guys and enjoy your Clown Pom Day.

clock June 12, 2010 19:10 by author Crafty Ribbons

Glad to hear you all like my NEW butterfly ribbons.  I had to almost lock them away from Bev, she sooooooooooo wanted to put them into her last Bev's bag. As it is I can spot 5 ribbons in her NEW Bev's bag that are not on the website - what am I going to do with her?!

She has called this her "Celebrate Summer" Ribbon Bag, you can find it HERE.  Just had another look at the photo, there are SIX NEW ribbons, and one is my Balloon ribbon.  That's it, when (or should I say IF) our ribbon deliveries turn up next week, I am going to lock myself in the office while I unpack them on my own - making sure I make really loads of loud oooohs and aahhs.

OK, OK I am not that mean, we all enjoy opening boxes full of NEW ribbons.

Great Time

clock April 13, 2010 13:45 by author Crafty Ribbons

We had a great time in Paris, even though the hours were long, we still found time to have fun.  The exhibition centre is in a park and is surrounded with huge colourful flower beds and open grass lands. Many of you left comments about how wonderful spring time in Paris is, how right you are, it was a pleasure walking to work each morning.  The show is small, but very enjoyable and we will look forward to going back next year.

I was so busy before leaving for the show, I forgot to show you the new scrapbook pages. I also forgot to photograph them before hanging them up on the stand! so please excuse the photography.

We have very high stands at this show, so all the scrap pages hang from the front of our stand, as usual they create a lot of interest and many photos were taken.  They loved the strawberries or should I say fraise ribbon, as much as we do.

Now on to the Friday FREEBIE.....

The winner this week was chosen by Mollie, she is off to the isles of scilly on holiday later this week.  She is going by helicopter (I wonder what she will think of the noise!).  So this weeks winner is....

24. Fi

"some yummy strawberries and spring what can be better apart of course from winning these lovely ribbons of course!!
have fun all"

Congratulations Fi you have some scrummy strawberry ribbons coming your way, please email us your address to craftyribbons@gmail.com so we can send you the ribbons.  Thanks so much for all your comments, when away from home, it helps with the home sickness!

Bev has launched a NEW Ribbon bag - a little different to her normal style.

Bev's NEW Ribbon Bag - Spring Blooms

Bev has selected each ribbon for their printed flowers (not one polka dot - that must be a first!). I note there are a few ribbons that are not on the website, I do love the Purple and Pink Alliums on the ribbon wrapped around the bag, it has been puff printed so it is slightly raised.  You can buy one of Bev's NEW bags by clicking HERE.  Still amazing value at only £5.00, remember they will not be around for ever - just until the wind changes and Bev has another whim!!!!!

Great to be back.

Bev's NEW Easter Bag

clock March 9, 2010 17:16 by author Crafty Ribbons

Look what I had waiting for me on my desk this morning.....

Bev's NEW Ribbon Bag and it is crammed full of wicked Spring and Easter Ribbons, she has even snuck some ribbons in that are not on the website yet - naughty naughty Bev!  You can get one of Bev's bags by clicking HERE and they are still the amazing price of £5.00 yep 5 x £1 coins for all those ribbons. Billy Bargain!!!!

We are very sorry but we do not take Bev's Ribbon Bags to any of the exhibtions, you can only buy them on line.

Tony and I had a good trip back from Glasgow, we stopped off at Tebay services Sunday night in Cumbria, as we had a meeting at the factory on Monday.  I love going to the factory, anyone who is a ribbonholic would love it too.  Rows and rows of nothing but ribbon, we get customers overwelmed when they visit our warehouse, but the factory ooooooh heaven!  After several hours of trying to get lost in the factory, we selected some stunning beauties, which will be coming your way soon.  The best part of visiting is that we can have exclusive ribbons, select the colour and design just for me - and you too. Nope it's top secret and my lips are sealed.

The girls enjoyed the Mars Bar Cakes, I had hoped to get a photo, but they were consumed within the blink of an eye.  I am sure they did'nt hit the sides!!  It's two years since Rachie came to help me in Glasgow, so two years without a Mars Bar Cake - poor Rachie.

The stand is all offloaded and starting to be restocked for the Stitch & Craft Show at Olympia London next week. A big huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to see us in Glasgow, we had an awesome show.  I love coming back to the warehouse when you can see the back of the ribbon cabinets - it makes us all feel really good and that all the hard work was worth while.  It can be scarey at times deciding on what ribbons to buy and whether anyone else will like them.  We sold out of "Cherry Pie" in several of the colours, all your Challenge goodies were much admired.  I had planned to take some photos but I just did not have time - sorry.

We have lots going on this week and be the first to read it here!
