Hello wednesday - Buttonflies!

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday  "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

If like me you have two sisters, you know you can not make something for one (last weeks Royal Cushion for Rachie) without making something for the other!  This is the Easter prezzie I made for Bev.

Bev has seen this drop dead gorgeous butterfly sofa - it looks divine in cream and turquoise, but with Sam around........ummmm......Bev is not sure! Bev loved the cushion but asked where the other three cushions were - cheeky devil!!

When I saw this cushion cover I instantly thought of Bev, so it quickly found it's way into my shopping basket for me to have a play!

Ummmm butterflys, a quick search on google to find some butterfly shapes - I printed several out in different sizes.  I cut them out and had a play, pinning them to the cushion, moving them about a bit, until I was happy with my shape.  I unpinned each butterfly one at a time and cut it out in felt. I used three shades of felt - turquoise, light blue and cream.  I re-pinned each one back into postion on the cushion cover.  I had slipped a magazine inside the cushion cover to make sure I didn't catch the cushion back.

Once I was happy with all my butterflies - or should that be buttonflies I started to sew them down with 2 strands of embroidery thread, I used three shades of thread, one for each colour felt.  A simple running stitch was all I used.

I had one of our NEW Button Boxes by the side of me - Tornado (HERE) and was pairing up buttons to add detail to each buttonfly. It was funny....Tony was trying to watch Inspector Morse (I told him we had aready seen it it, but he would not believe me) and everytime I russled through the buttons to find a good match he would humph at me!!!!  I had no idea buttons could make so much noise....until I tried!!!!

We had a wonderful holiday, the tulips were just wicked, you have to see them to believe the delight they create.
